QADIM Size Guide: How to Choose Your Oversized Fit

Oversized doesn't mean "big." At QADIM it means room to move — dropped shoulders, a fuller body, a silhouette that sits with intention instead of stretching to fit. But that only works if the size underneath it is right. Guess wrong and the same cut that looks effortless on someone else just looks like the wrong size on you.

This guide walks through how we build an oversized fit, what to actually check before you order, and where our real measurements live — so you're not guessing.

What "Oversized" Means at QADIM

Every QADIM piece starts from the same idea behind Al Asil — the noble Arabian horse, built for controlled, purposeful movement, not excess. Our oversized cuts follow the same logic: drop-shoulder seams, a wider body, room through the chest — but the proportions are still considered, not just "one size fits nothing." An oversized QADIM piece should look deliberate on you, not accidental.

The One Rule: Go by Chest Width, Not Height

The single biggest sizing mistake we see is choosing a size based on height or "what I normally wear at other brands." Oversized silhouettes drape differently — length and shoulder drop change the way a garment reads far more than a size label does. Before you order:

  • Measure a tee you already own and like the fit of — flat, armpit to armpit, then double it for chest width.
  • Compare that number against the product page's size chart for the exact style you're buying (our graphic tees, polos, and linen pieces are cut differently, so check per product, not per "usual size").
  • If you're between two sizes: size up for maximum drape and drop-shoulder effect, size down for a fuller-but-still-relaxed fit that's easier to layer.

ATHAR Linen Set — Real Measurements (cm)

Because linen behaves differently from cotton jersey, here are the actual construction measurements for our ATHAR Linen Shirt and ATHAR Linen Trousers:

Piece Measure M L XL
Shirt Chest width 58cm 61cm 64cm
Shirt Length 77cm 77cm 77cm
Trousers Hip width 60cm 62cm 64cm
Trousers Length 110cm 110cm 110cm

Chest and hip width are measured flat, so double the number for the full circumference. Length is neck-to-hem (shirt) and waist-to-hem (trousers).

Graphic Tees: How the Oversized Cut Actually Wears

Pieces like the Asil Graphic Tee and the rest of the Summer Collection use a relaxed, dropped-shoulder block. A few things to know before you size:

  • Washed cotton softens and relaxes slightly after the first wash — it won't shrink, but it will drape looser than it feels fresh out of the bag.
  • The Washed Long Sleeve Tee is cut closer through the body than our boxier graphic tees — check the individual product page, don't assume every QADIM piece is cut the same.
  • If you plan to layer (tee under a jacket, or over another tee), size up one from your usual fit.

How to Measure Yourself at Home (2 Minutes, No Guessing)

You don't need a tailor for this. Grab any soft measuring tape — or a piece of string and a ruler if you don't have one — and do the following flat on a table, not on your body:

  • Chest: lay a tee you like the fit of flat, measure straight across from armpit seam to armpit seam, then double it. Compare that number to the product's size chart.
  • Length: measure from the highest point of the shoulder seam straight down to the hem. This tells you where the tee will actually sit — mid-hip, on the hip, or lower — which matters more for an oversized cut than the size label does.
  • Shoulder drop: for drop-shoulder styles, the seam sits past your natural shoulder line by design. If you want that visible drop, don't size down just to "tighten" the shoulder — you'll lose the silhouette the cut is built for.

Write these three numbers down before you shop. It takes less time than reading this paragraph, and it removes almost all the guesswork.

Why This Is Worth Getting Right

The wrong size is the single most common reason a piece gets sent back. It's rarely about quality — it's a five-minute measuring step that got skipped. Take the tee-you-already-own comparison seriously before you order, and message us on WhatsApp with your measurements if you're still unsure between two sizes. We'd rather answer a sizing question upfront than process a return afterward.

FAQ

Do QADIM tees run big?
They run true-to-size for an oversized cut — meaning the size label is accurate, but the silhouette itself is intentionally roomier than a standard fitted tee. Check the product-specific size chart rather than assuming.

What if I'm between two sizes?
Size up for a fuller, more dramatic drape; size down for a fit that's still relaxed but easier to layer or dress up.

Does washed cotton shrink after washing?
No — it softens and relaxes slightly, which actually improves the drape. Wash cold and avoid high heat drying to keep the texture intact longest.

Where can I see exact measurements before I buy?
Every product page carries its own size chart. For the ATHAR linen set specifically, the cm measurements above are the current, accurate ones.
